Drinks with the Dutch – Grandville, Michigan – Wednesday, December 4th from 7-9 PM
Osgood Brewing and the Dutch International Society are hosting Drinks with the Dutch. Interested in your Dutch heritage? Enjoy a good beer? Anyone from immigrants to multi-generational Dutch-Americans are welcome to join members and friends of the Dutch International Society for a low-key night of drinks. Ask questions about your ancestors, pick up a few new Dutch words, or just enjoy a ‘slokje’ with new friends. 57th Annual Pella, Iowa Christmas Tour of Homes, December 5-7
Plan to enjoy the 57th annual Pella, Iowa Christmas Tour of Homes! This event is a tradition that will warm your heart as you tour four beautiful homes decorated for the holidays, plus a Dutch coffee time at the historic Pella Opera House. If you love architecture, decorating, or are just looking for a festive activity to enjoy with friends or family, you’ll make wonderful memories at the Christmas Tour of Homes. Sinterklaas Eve in Holland, Michigan – Friday, December 6th from 6-9 PM
Tulip Time in Holland, Michigan is hosting an evening of Dutch holiday traditions celebrating Sinterklaas Eve. The festivities begin at 6:00 pm with Dutch lantern making, crafts and storytelling at the Holland Area Arts Council (150 E 8th Street). Dutch lanterns are available to the first 300 children beginning at 6:00 pm while supplies last. Just after 7:00 pm, families head outside with their lanterns to join Sinterklaas on his white horse, leading the procession down 8th Street to the Kerstmarkt, an open-air holiday market. Activities at the Kerstmarkt include a special welkom, photo opportunities and holiday shopping. A large portion of this event is outdoors, so please dress warm and bring your holiday cheer!
DIS Christmas: Kerst Koffie/Singalong/Traditions – Thursday, December 12th from 6:30 to 8:30 PM
Please join us at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Ada, Michigan for a very casual evening of visiting, singing and listening to English Christmas and Dutch Kerstfeest Versjes (songs), sharing traditions, favorite poems and stories. Don’t worry, we will have songs printed in English and Dutch for you. If you have any traditions to share, songs to sing or an instrument to play, please let us know ahead of time so it can be included in the program or just come prepared to share. Bring a favorite sweet treat to share! We will also have a raffle for a gift certificate. Open to all DIS members and friends.
